back to same old sh*t

haven\’t played much this week but had a couple of sessions which have both produced small losses of about $75, the 2nd one would have been a winning session if i wasn\’t a pleb fish

i called off 50 bb\’s with top pair top kicker on a board that had paired just because i was playing the fish that i\’d originally sat down at the table to beat up. WHO\’S THE FISH?

then i pushed a pot sized bet on the turn, about $50 at a player who simply couldn\’t fold 2nd pair with a jack kicker, ffs why do i run my decent reads in to these morons? not complaining about this as i got the play right by being aggressive, just not selective enough on the players i do it to but this is all a big learning curve

seem to be struggling to make any gains at 1/2 but not losing either, may be due to a lack of hands not gettign paid off along with a few mistakes which are taking my small edge away completely.

not too worried that i haven\’t posted a profit for the month as i\’m not clawing back a deficit next month barring disaster today.

LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH

need a break

haven\’t really played much this week cos when i have, i  have taken kicking after kicking when doing the right things

i\’ve lost with aces twice all in pre flop, trip 7\’s run into trip 10\’s after villain calls the pot on the flop with pocket tens as third pair to hit the 2 outer on the turn ffs.

then lost after i raise with a 6, flop comes ace 6 2, villain bets pot at me which i see as weak to find out where he is so reraise the pot to show him he\’s behind, obviously at this time, his ace 8 is going to be the best hand in his head so he calls to be rewarded with a turn 8, moron reward scheme does the rest. now i\’m not complaining about the bad plays, it\’s the fact that these plebs then think they\’ve totally outplayed me by hitting miracle cards.

i\’m having the next week away from the computer cos i\’m sick of it but the frustrating thing is that i\’m doing the right things, i\’m just being bent over backwards and violated from behind by the so called random number generators. i\’m going to come back and play my same game as getting the chips in when in front is long term winning play so hopefully, the reward scheme will have found someone else to pick on when i com back

VIRGIN POKER FESTIVAL

Author : kevinbiddle, Posted on: 16.04.2008

rolled up in newcastle for the 2nd virgin poker festival.

played at Aspers casino, this is one of the best casino/cardrooms i\’ve played in, loads of room and very well organised.

main event gets underway and i\’m sat in a fairly decent position with a no show to my right then 2 rocks the next 2 seats right, a total beginner on my immediate left then a maniac who was only too willing to show big bluffs he\’d made for 1/2 his stack, then 2 fairly steady players  then a woman who thought jack queen out of position was the nuts.

i sit fairly tight picking up a few small pots with not a great deal of action going on our table, then i changed gear slightly and found that the table was very passive with no reraises, PERFECT.

I\’m then dealt qq on the bb, utg raises, all fold and i just call as i don\’t like to be out of position against someone who i know isn\’t going to fold to a reraise as he\’s a beginner

dangerous board brings me a decent pot against his jj.

then i\’m dealt rockets, utg rasies so i reraise, she calls. flop brings ace x 6. she bets at me, i call. turn brings 6 to give me aces full, checked to me, i bet, she calls, i now have about 5.5k in the pot with about 4.5k behind. i push the river for her to fold a 10.

start to steal a few blinds without cards then before level 7, i have 21k in chips, average is 15. i\’m dealt 99 and proceed to call most of my stack off on a k 10 board, of course i\’ve been trapped by trip 10\’s by the eventual winner and i am drawing dead by the turn. ffs what an idiot

next level i get a handy treble up with aq then i push with 44 when short stacked to run into quad 10\’s

1 silly mistake and that was me crippled

ah well, maybe next time

TURN OFF BEFORE I TILT

POKER GODS HAD IT IN FOR ME TODAY

i flop a set of 2\’s with ace 2 from then sb, on a 2 2 4 rainbow board, i bet 2/3 on the flop and get 1 caller

i bet the pot on the turn, still pretty harmless apart from 2 clubs to a flush draw to leave mr pleb with less than the pot left in his stack, again, he calls. river rag club.

what does he have 9 f*****ing 4 of clubs to hit runner runner for his well deserved flush ffs

I manage to trap the same player with 2 pairs versus his top pair top kicker to get all this money back and am sat with a profit of around 120 big blinds, $240 when i rerereraise him all in pre flop with aa, obviously his qq is the nuts and is proven to be a great call when he spikes a queen on the river

i turn off before i smash the computer with a small but all the same, appreciated 45 big blind profit for an hours play, should have been $330 up but $90 will do for the day after the retard reward scheme took it\’s taxes from me

Going in to the Virgin festival at the weekend in best form i\’ve been in for the year so far, not sure whether to risk spoiling this by playing tomorrow or having a break

KEEPING DISCIPLINE

Author : kevinbiddle, Posted on: 10.04.2008

yesterday was a bit of a tough grind, no really rich fish on my tables so it was a case of just keeping my head down, playing 6 tables at 1/2.

it was one of those days which would have cost me money a month or so ago, as i\’d have tried to get the rocks to play by pushing them around, i\’ve found out enough times now that it doesn\’t work and ultimately the only pots you win from them are monster versus monster.

i ended up just over $500 up, mainly due to odd big hands getting paid which i\’m more than happy with. money aside tho, i\’m happier with the way i kept my game and my discipline when people didn\’t want to play. YES IT\’S BORING, but i have to realise that this is low/medium level cash poker

NEWCASTLE THIS WEEKEND FOR THE VIRGIN POKER FESTIVAL

back to reality

Author : kevinbiddle, Posted on: 08.04.2008

nothing really to write about today, ground it out across 4 tables without really hitting a hand, missed a couple of draws and got trips partly paid off to level myself back up

slight profit for the day but nothing of note

WHAT A TURNAROUND

Author : kevinbiddle, Posted on: 08.04.2008

Well, what a day.

People ask me the benefits of being a sponsored player at Badbeat.com when you have to give some of your profits away.

Yesterday answered all these questions for me.

I have been running bad every time i step up from 50/1 nl levels. I say running bad, LOSING is the operative word.

I would get a decent profit for the year, then move up, and dwindle it away and more, then have to move back to 50/1 to get it all back. Which I was doing with ease.

So back to yesterday.

I had an online mentoring session with one of badbeat\’s proffessionals watching over me and giving advice. This is where the benefits start.

I have been playing like a complete pleb for the last 2 months and blaming the cards not coming, bad players, making the right moves into wrong players and everything in general but myself.

Before this period, i was pretty solid, making good decisions and running pretty consistently.

After an hour and a couple of nice hands, i was just over a couple of buyins ($450ish) up without having any decisions to make.

I then played later at night and returned juts under 5 buyins profit for the day despite losing a race al in pre flop my aa v kk.

Hopefully i\’m back on track now

STARTING ON A DOWNSWING

Author : kevinbiddle, Posted on: 07.04.2008

I am starting this blog after my 2nd downswing in 4 months

i am a sponsored player for badbeat.com and play cash no limit holdem on betfair

i play between .50/1 and 2/4. at 50/1 i seem to win every month by multi tabling up to 8 tables.

the problems appear when i try multi tabling at 1/2 and higher. i tried in november and had 2 bad months and then dropped a level to have a very successful month. now i\’m back up, the downswing has started

i just seem to run into the grinders who aren\’t going to pu their money in unless they have the stone cold nuts. then, i don\’t seem to get my share of big hands versus big hands so i hit a downswing

don\’t get me wrong, this isn\’t a massive downswing, only a few buyins, but it\’s the consistent manner in which i\’m losing that makes it feel like i\’m losing a lot more.

I have hardly played since the 1st of this month but have still managed to get through a couple of buyins.

TODAY IS A NEW BEGINNING

I have a mentoring session with my mentor, Richard Strummer9 Herbert

hopefully this will be successful and will give me the belief that i\’m doing things right and start me back on the right track

We will see
